Chuck Lakefield |
Lakefield joins WVBO Mornings after serving WVBO as Midday Personality. He was also Morning Host of sister station 1280 WNAM-AM, and has hosted morning shows at stations in markets including Duluth, Lansing and Terre Haute. The appointment follows longtime broadcaster and WVBO Morning Personality Dan ‘Skip’ Willis’ announcement last week that he will retire later this month after more than 45 years in radio.
Willis’ final 103.9 WVBO broadcast will be on March 17 from 5:30am-9::00am, before heading to sunny Florida for his new gig as full-time grandpa. Willis’ successful broadcasting career began at WWIS in Black River Falls, WI, followed by on-air stints the U.S. Navy and Armed Forces Radio and TV, and at stations including: KFOR in Lincoln, NE; KFAB and WOW in Omaha, NE; Magic 96 WMGG in Tampa, FL; WROK in Rockford, IL; WOKY in Milwaukee, WI; and most recently, morning duties at WNAM and WVBO in Appleton/Oshkosh.
103.9 WVBO Program Director Steve Edwards said: “As we bid a fond farewell to our friend and colleague, Skip Willis, we welcome Chuck Lakefield and his friendly, familiar voice to mornings on the FM dial in the Fox Valley. Chuck’s incredible on-air skills, local appeal and long list of success make him a perfect fit for WVBO Mornings.”

“So many great memories, so many wonderful people - I will miss it all!,” said Willis. “Now it's time to say so long to the headphones and mic and move on to a whole new chapter in my life.”
