Philly Radio: Jon Marks Lands Crosstown At WIP 94.1 FM

Jon Marks
Former WPEN 97.5 FM Fanatic host Jon Marks to take over nights at CBS Radio's WIP 94.1 FM.

He be talking the station’s 6 to 10 p.m. timeslot, replacing current host Brian Haddad starting Tuesday, February 7.

According to philly.com, Marks surprised many when he decided to leave his job co-hosting The Fanatic's Mornings with Anthony Gargano after his contract expired on October 20. Before that, Marks worked with Mike Missanelli, and helped the popular afternoon host defeat his competition, WIP’s Howard Eskin in the ratings. He also co-hosted The Jon and Sean Show with former Fanatic personality Sean Brace.

Haddad has been with the station since January of 2012. He'll continue his role as the station's creative services director, writing and producing a lot of the segments listeners hear throughout the day.

The move comes on the heels of several line-up changes by WIP’s program director Spike Eskin after combative afternoon host Josh Innes was fired.

Back in October, WIP hired former SportsNet New York host Chris Carlin and paired him with former Eagles linebacker Ike Reese to fill the station’s 2 to 6 p.m. drive-time slot. Popular Comcast SportsNet host Michael Barkann was also forced out and replaced with former Fanatic host Joe DeCamara and ex-Eagles fullback Jon Ritchie, who currently anchor the stations 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. afternoon slot.

Now the only slot the station needs to worry about is the morning shift, which longtime host Angelo Cataldi has said he’s considering vacating when his contract expires at the end of the year.

“Jon’s talent, relationship to Philadelphia sports fans, and history in the marketplace will be a huge addition to WIP. We’re thrilled to have him aboard,” said 94WIP program director Spike Eskin.

“It’s an exciting time in Philadelphia sports and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be in charge of the airwaves every night on WIP,” Marks said. “I’d like to thank Spike and David [Market Manager David Yadgaroff] for this opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.”

  1. most disappointing... Wentz,, he is forcing the ball downfield into triple coverage and not taking the easy checkdowns to the runningbacks. he's not keeping drives alive this way.
