Springfield MA: Dan & Kim, Brad Shepard Guest On WAQY-FM

Rock WAQY 102.1 FM morning host Mike Baxendale's clever notion of inviting Brad Shepard, formerly of WHYN 560 AM, and longtime WHYN 93.1 FM husband-and-wife team Dan Williams and Kim Zachary to guest on Rock 102's Bax and O'Brien Show on Monday morning proved to be a nostalgic charmer, according to Ray Kelly at MassLive.com.

With co-host John O'Brien on an extended vacation, Bax kicked off the 6 to 10 a.m. slot with Dan and Kim riffing on everything from being an on-air married couple to the risqué movie Fifty Shades of Grey.

With Rock 102's newsman Steve Nagle also on vacation, Zachary handled the news chores as Bax and Williams wisecracked.

Shepard described the gathering as surreal, adding it was a mix of people you would not expect to hear together.

Those expecting the Rock 102 morning show to become nothing more than three ex-WHYN personalities bashing their former employer, Clear Channel, were disappointed.

Instead, the breezy conversation focused on college drinking contests, the crowning of the 2015 Holyoke Colleen, MassLive comments, and what the trio of radio personalities have been up to since they left the early morning drive.

Shepard recently teamed with Talkers magazine founder Michael Harrison to launch an online radio service, Pioneer Valley Radio.  He was dropped by WHYN-AM in June 2014 after 14 years.

In January 2012, WHYN-FM canceled The Dan & Kim Morning Show after a 17-year run on the FM station and previously its AM counterpart.
