Kalamazoo Radio: Wayne Powers Joins WKZO For Morning Show

Wayne Powers
Former sitcom actor and longtime radio personality Wayne Powers has been hired by WKZO 590 AM to host a new live morning show, according to mlive.com.

"The Wayne Powers Show" will air from 6 to 10 a.m. daily starting Oct. 13. Powers, 64, most recently worked as a host at Charlotte, North Carolina's WBT 1110 AM. His talk show will cover local news and happenings, as well as other topics, including some news and stories from his career in the entertainment world.

Powers said his goal is to build a show that prepares people for their day while also uniting the community through conversation.

"If you miss the show, you won't know what people are talking about at the water cooler," he said. "I want to bring people together. You can really make a difference in the lives of the listeners. That's what I'm after."

Powers moved to Charlotte from Los Angeles, California, about 20 years ago because he wanted a better environment to raise his children. Prior to moving east, Powers appeared in several television shows, including "Laverne & Shirley," "Simon & Simon," "Doogie Howser," "Full House" and "Murder She Wrote," among others. He also starred in the popular sitcom, "13 East," on NBC for two seasons.

Powers also provided voice work for animation, video games and commercials, including as "Wayne" the talking crow from Windex commercials.

Powers said he accomplished everything he wanted in Charlotte and now that his children are grown, he wanted to move to a small town with personality.
