Louisville Radio: WHAS Signs Leland Conway For Late Mornings

Leland Conway
We now know who will be filling the midday slot in the WHAS 840 AM programming lineup.

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment says Leland Conway will join WHAS 840 AM on September 16th.  The Leland Conway Show will air weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon.

He replaces Mandy Connell, who left last month to host a morning show in Denver.  Connell actually returned to the air in Louisville to introduce her successor and Conway says she’ll be a tough act to follow.

Conway is a Kentucky native, and worked on the play-by-play sports crews at Georgetown College and Eastern Kentucky University.  In addition, he also hosted a talk show for 6 years on NewsRadio WLAP 630 AM in Lexington. Most recently, he hosted a daily talk show on WRVA 1140 AM in Richmond, Virginia.

“This is an exciting appointment for 84WHAS Radio and the Kentuckiana community. We talked to many highly qualified and experienced on-air personalities, but Leland’s talents really shined brightly,” said Kelly Carls, regional programming manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment.  “His wit, energy and longstanding Kentucky roots make him a great fit. We’re extremely happy he’s returning to the Bluegrass State.”

“It is an honor to join the 84WHAS team. As a native Kentuckian, I grew up with 84WHAS,” said Conway.  “It’s as much a part of the Bluegrass State as hot browns and horse racing. I am excited to once again be a part of the lively conversation in Kentucky.”
