Mike Lindsley |
Two sports talk-show hosts for the Capital Region's ESPN Radio
affiliate were fired Friday by Townsquare Media.
The WTMM 104.5 FM hosts, Mike Lindsley and Brian Cady,
were involved in a hoax interview earlier this month that made national news,
but, according to the Albany Times-Union, Townsquare officials wouldn't say if the incident led to their dismissals.
"They're effectively no longer with the company
immediately," said Stephen Giuttari , operations manager at Townsquare.
"They're both out of the building. I can't comment other than that."
The station will unveil a new afternoon lineup within the
next two weeks, Giuttari said.
The station already had been set to lose afternoon
drive-time host Bruce Jacobs, who was informed earlier this month that his
contract will not be renewed. He will remain on the air until Sept. 6; his
contract expires Sept. 18.
Lindsley, a popular host in the Syracuse market, was hired in late March to
become the station's 1-4 p.m. show host, replacing Brian Noe.
Cady was a producer and part-time host.

Both were involved in a hoax 2½ weeks ago in which a man who
said he was former New York Yankees outfielder Shane Spencer was put on the air.
