Former Atlanta Falcon Alge Crumpler is joining a sports host
from Tampa JP Peterson as the new WQXI 790 AM The Zone morning show dubbed
"The Locker Room."
According to Access Atlanta, they replace Mayhem in the AM,
the morning show the Zone fired more than two months ago for its tasteless bit
about Steve Gleason, the former NFL player with the life-debilitating disease
ALS. The trio - Nick Cellini, Chris Dimino, and Steak Shapiro - lost their jobs
and cannot be back on Atlanta radio until March, 2014 at the earliest due to an
eight-month non-compete clause that is apparently in effect despite the fact
they were fired with cause.

Crumpler spent 10 years in the NFL, including seven seasons
as tight end for the Falcons. He has
also served as an analyst for the Zone and a co-host for Falcons game day
programs on CBS Atlanta and Fox 5.
According to Rodney Ho at accessatlanta.com, Peterson
anchored and did sideline work for WFLA-TV's pre-season Bucs coverage and
pre-game shows. He has also done field
reporting for NBC's "Football Night in America " and hosted the Tampa
Bay Rays' "Inside Pitch" and "Extra Innings" shows.
