Saturday marks the 6th Annual Monumental Marathon in Downtown Indianapolis and organizers expect a record 13,000 runners to participate. First time marathoner and longtime WFBQ Q95 radio personality Jay Baker will be among the runners.
According to WISH-TV8, his completion of the race will headline a health and fitness journey marked by a 157 pound weight loss.
Baker’s mission to lose weight started after seeing a candid photo of himself that was snapped during St. Patrick’s Day, 2012.
“I remember looking at that picture and thinking ‘I didn’t look that big when I left the house this morning,’” says Baker. “Then, you see a picture of yourself and think, 'wow, there's a guy who really seems out of control.'”
Baker bought a digital scale to see his starting weight and admits, at the time, it had been a couple of years since he had been weighed. When he stepped on the scale, it read 368 pounds.
