Dan Reaves |
The Jackson Sun reports he’ll turn his microphone off for the final time for the state on Friday night as Reaves has announced he’s leaving the station for a new job with WNSR 95.9 FM Nashville Sports Radio.
“It’s a great opportunity that I couldn’t pass up on, but I admit I had a hard time with the decision to leave because I love working here so much,” Reaves said during an interview.
“Sixteen years is a long time to do anything, and when you’re talking about my line of work, there’s a lot of relationships there that I’m going to miss here at the station and in the community.”
Reaves was in the medical supply sales industry before getting his start in radio in Memphis at WHBQ 560 AM with his evening talk show The Cheap Seats, where he first met longtime co-host Sea Bass and worked with his good friend Richard Barber. Reaves and Sea Bass made the move to WBFG-FM 96.5 in Lexington before eventually taking The Cheap Seats to WNWS. Reaves, Sea Bass and Barber continue to broadcast football games with Barber ending his time as the sideline reporter this Friday as well.
WNWS general manager Larry Wood said the station wishes Reaves well in his new job.
“Dan is a talented individual that our listeners will miss having on the air as a show host and as sports director, and we certainly hope he does well at his next stop,” Wood said. “Sea Bass will be our new sports director, and we’ll announce Dan’s replacement on the 2HL next week.”
