R.I.P.: Longtime Minnesota Broadcaster Cliff Mitchell

Longtime KASM 1150 AM Albany, MN broadcaster Clifford F. "Cliff" Mitchell  has died at age 89.

Mitchell was born March 30, 1928 in Berthold, North Dakota and attended schools in North Dakota before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He spent his entire broadcast career at KASM after attending Brown Institute for broadcasting in the Twin Cities. Being a radio personality was one of three career aspirations Cliff had growing up. The others were a cowboy and fireman, and he accomplished both of these as well. He followed the rodeo for a year and a half and became a volunteer fireman after he started his radio career.

MItchell was inducted into the NAFB Hall of Fame in 2005, and into the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting Hall of Fame (Minnesota) in 2002. He was named North Central Region Farm Broadcaster of the Year by NAFB and Non-Metro Broadcast Personality of the Year by the Minnesota Broadcasters Association.
