In honor of National Down Syndrome Day, FOX & Friends Weekend co-host Rachel Campos Duffy and her daughter Valentina, who was born with Down Syndrome, joined FOX & Friends Friday morning to reflect on the day. Rachel emphasized that Valentina is the foundation of her family of 11 and known to everyone as the family favorite.
She shares her experience raising Valentina and provides advice for parents who are fearful when first learning of their child’s syndrome.

Rachel discussed how to overcome these fears that parents could have, saying, “…when people get that diagnosis, it can be scary. And oftentimes the doctors and the genetic counselors are the ones contributing to a lot of that fear. The reality is that these children grow up to be just like all of our other children. They may be born with a few medical conditions. Valentina had a heart condition, but she is as human and as worthy of life as any of my other children. And, as I said, they end up just bringing the family to a different level. She doesn't care about the news, you guys. She just wants to love and be in the moment. And I think that's why we're so happy she's here. She's perfect exactly the way God made her.”
In the United States, National Down Syndrome Day is observed on World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), which is celebrated globally on March 21 each year, including in the U.S.
