Stanstock 2013, billed as "The Ultimate Maryland
Musical Family Reunion," will play out over two stages at McAvoy's on Putty Hill Avenue
in Baltimore
this weekend.
The music fest offers more than 35 hours of live music for
just $10 a day.
"We're going to have great bands on the outside stage and great bands on the inside stage," festival social media director Russ Clarke told Parkville Patch. "We've got something for everyone—metal, classic rock, easy listening, Journey, Fleetwood Mac; if there's nothing you like, well ..."
The concert is for all ages and is family-oriented, according to Clarke.
"Undeniably, it was everyone's choice to have Stanstock benefit cancer—everyone either had lost someone to cancer or knows someone who is battling it," Clarke said. "We thought we'd use this event to celebrate victories together and mourn our losses as a family—cancer touches everyone."
Every element of Stanstock is donated, including the musicians' performances, the time of volunteer administrators, the venue and items for raffles and a silent auction, Clarke said.
Thirty-eight bands with more than 100 members will play over the course of Stanstock. Music presented will be that of the era of the 1970's, 80’s and 90’s, with some bands playing as they performed during that time and others creating tribute bands for this event.
