Polly Anthony |
Music industry veteran Polly Anthony, who served in
executive roles at such record labels as Epic and Geffen, has died after a long
battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was believed to have been in her late 50s.
Anthony had risen the ranks at Epic and is credited with
developing such hit acts as Pearl Jam, Oasis, Korn and Rage Against the
Machine.
Anthony began as a secretary at
CBS Records, which later became Sony Music, in 1978.
Three years later she got a promotion at Epic, and worked
her way up to the top, becoming president in 1997.
In 2004, she became co-president at Geffen with Jordan
Schur.
Anthony had most recently been involved with numerous film
and television projects.
