Russian Drones Attack Ukraine Public Broadcasting Building

Russian drones struck a central Dnipro building housing the regional newsroom of Ukraine’s public broadcaster Suspilne and Ukrainian Radio Dnipro late on November 17, 2025, causing extensive damage but no casualties, Suspilne reported early Tuesday.

According to Reuters, the overnight barrage involved at least 32 Shahed-type kamikaze drones launched against the city, triggering more than 20 explosions. A direct hit or nearby blast collapsed ceilings, shattered windows, and sparked a fire at the multi-story media facility.

Emergency crews extinguished the blaze, and no journalists or staff were inside at the time due to air-raid alerts.

The same wave of attacks damaged Dnipro’s central railway station, delaying passenger trains by up to 2.5 hours, and knocked out power in parts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Ukrainian air defenses downed most incoming drones, though falling debris added to the destruction.

Suspilne condemned the strike as an attempt to silence independent Ukrainian media and vowed to continue broadcasting. No fatalities or injuries were reported across the city.

The assault is part of Russia’s escalating drone campaign targeting Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, with Dnipro repeatedly hit throughout 2025. Moscow has not commented on the incident.
