| Chris Bratcher ('72-'25) |
A 30-year radio veteran in the Bowling Green market, Bratcher first became a local institution as the host of “The Local Show” when the station was branded “The Point” (WWHR). He later carried that same community-first spirit to “105.3 The Goat” after the station’s rebranding, remaining a daily presence for listeners until his passing.
In a statement released Tuesday, Seven Mountains Media remembered Bratcher as far more than a personality:
“For decades, Chris Bratcher was more than just a familiar voice on the dial—he was a champion for local talent, a guardian of community identity, and a steadfast advocate for the power of hometown radio. What truly set him apart was his genuine love for the people on the other side of the microphone. Whether broadcasting as The Point or The Goat, Chris understood the relationship between host and audience as something deeply personal and meaningful. He didn’t just play music; he built connections that lasted years, sometimes entire lifetimes.”
Colleagues described Bratcher as the rare jock who still answered the request line himself, remembered listeners’ names, and routinely spotlighted unsigned Kentucky bands long before streaming playlists existed. His Sunday-night “Local Show” on the old Point format was considered appointment listening for two generations of south-central Kentucky music fans.
No cause of death has been announced.
