Chicago Radio: Tim Virgin Lands PM Drive At WDRV-FM

Chicago classic rock station WDRV 97.1 FM (Hubbard Radio) has hired veteran personality Tim Virgin as its new afternoon drive host (2-7 p.m. weekdays), replacing Janda Lane.

Virgin, a Chicago radio mainstay for over a decade, returns to the market after two years in afternoons at Hubbard sister station KSHE 95 in St. Louis.

He previously spent 11 years with Cumulus Chicago, most recently hosting afternoons on Classic Hits 94.7 WLS-FM until earlier this year.

WDRV Program Director Rick Adams called Virgin “the perfect fit,” citing his energy, deep classic rock knowledge, and strong connection with Chicago listeners.

Virgin said, “Chicago’s my home—I’m thrilled to be back spinning the music that built this city.”The move fills a key daypart on the heritage classic rock station, which features Sherman & Tingle in mornings, Bob Stroud in middays, and Alice Cooper in evenings.

WDRV has long ranked among Chicago’s top-rated stations in the 25-54 demographic and is known for its no-hype approach and annual events like the complete Beatles A-Z playback.
