Jacobs Media and Quu have announced registration is now open for commercial radio stations in the U.S. and Canada to participate in Techsurvey 2026.
The 2025 survey was fielded this past January and February with 500 participating radio stations across North America. Eight different formats were represented among a diverse group of broadcasting companies, yielding more than 24,000 respondents to radio’s largest research survey devoted to media and technology.
Past Techsurveys have enabled Jacobs Media and participating stations to identify key digital trends, including awareness and usage of AI, smart speakers and the rise of voice technologies, on-demand audio and video entertainment options like podcasts and short-form video, in-dash entertainment, as well as the surge in YouTube usage.
In Techsurvey 2026, the Jacobs Media team will deliver fresh data for eight to ten qualifying radio formats (music + spoken word), especially useful for stations and companies to better understand how their brands are similar or different than the national norms.
This year’s study will continue to trend on key variables: media device ownership and media usage, including on-demand media, push notifications, online newsletters, YouTube usage and short-form videos—by age and generations, by gender, and ethnicity.
In addition, Techsurvey 2026 will explore local and street visibility, contest participation, projected concert attendance, merchandise purchases, updated in-car dashboard access/usage, specifically Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and preferred podcast services.
Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs noted, “For more than two decades, Techsurvey has been the largest and most important survey in commercial radio. In this year’s highly anticipated Techsurvey 2026, we’ll have new trending data, especially important to better understand massive shifts in broadcast and digital consumption patterns amidst the rapidly evolving media landscape.”
“Techsurvey has long been the gold standard for understanding the trends and technologies shaping radio’s future,” said Steve Newberry, CEO of Quu. “Jacobs Media and Quu share a deep commitment to giving broadcasters meaningful insights that shine a light on radio’s path forward. We could not be more enthused to partner with Fred and Paul and bring this important research to our industry.”
This new study will field beginning in January. Stations have until Friday, December 19th to sign up. All information about timetables, fees, logistics, and registration are here: https://jacobsmedia.com/register-techsurvey-2026/
