D/FW Radio: KRLD-AM Raises $30K For Make-A-Wish Foundation
NewsRadio 1080 KRLD raised over $30,000 benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas. All proceeds go towards granting life-changing wishes for children facing critical illnesses.
On November 13, morning show host Joe Kelley began broadcasting live from Nebraska Furniture Mart at Grandscape. Throughout the day, he encouraged the community to donate and shared the stories of families whose lives have been transformed by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Kelley can be heard on ‘The KRLD Morning News,’ which airs weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. CT.
“This event was a powerful testament to what happens when a community’s heart aligns with a vital mission. We were humbled to witness the generosity of North Texas through every call, visit and donation,” said Drew Anderssen, Vice President of News/Talk Programming, Audacy. “The success of our inaugural radiothon wouldn’t be possible without our wonderful partnership with Make-A-Wish North Texas and NFM at Grandscape for their exceptional hospitality and spirit.”
“It was an honor to be part of KRLD’s first Make-A-Wish radiothon. I’ve been involved in wish-granting fundraisers for nearly 20 years now and together with listeners and partners, we’ve helped raise more than $4 million for kids who need hope the most,” said Kelley. “As a two-time childhood cancer survivor, this organization is near to my heart, and every year, I’m reminded that the generosity of my community is the real story. I’m just grateful I get to help shine a light on it.”
Newsradio 1080 KRLD’s radiothon aims to bring awareness, hope, and joy to children and families in need this holiday season. The station continued the momentum from the radiothon and encouraged listeners to donate online throughout the weekend.
Make-A-Wish grants thousands of wishes nationwide each year, and local chapters rely on community support to keep those dreams alive.
