SF Radio: Cumulus Stations Raise $500K For Wildfire Victims

Cumulus Media-San Francisco announces that its radio stations KFOG, KGO, KNBR, KSAN, KSFO, and KTCT have reached the goal of raising $500,000 for the Bay Area Fire Relief Fund, bringing much-needed relief to victims of the massive Northern California wildfires. The wildfires destroyed homes displacing thousands of Northern Californians and scorched areas including Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties.

Cumulus Media’s San Francisco radio stations partnered with local businesses in mid-October to launch a major two-week relief drive, where businesses matched up to $10,000 per day in cash donations raised by the stations’ listeners, driving big momentum for the fundraising effort. Twenty Cumulus Media-San Francisco advertisers contributed matching funds totaling $215,000 to drive donations over the course of the campaign, and over 2,700 individual listeners donated funds totaling $285,000. 100% of the funds raised by the drive have gone to local North Bay fire relief.

Cumulus Media-San Francisco has since disbursed the following funds to these local charitable organizations providing relief to people affected in the North Bay area:
  • $150,000 to American Red Cross, Northern California Chapter;
  • $150,000 to United Way Bay Area; and
  • $200,000 to Redwood Empire Food Bank
Justin Wittmayer, Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Media-San Francisco, said: “So proud of what this team’s been able to do to raise awareness and donations for the North Bay fire victims. The text-to-donate line has helped us reach our goal of raising $500,000. We’d like to thank our incredible employees for leading the charge, our advertising partners who’ve so generously matched daily listener donations, and our truly giving and big-hearted listeners.”
