Phoenix Radio: KQFN Launches Sports On 1580 AM

CRC Broadcasting Co. has launched all sports KQFN 1580 AM  The Fanatic with CBS Sports and local shows from Phoenix Suns and Dallas Cowboys announcer Kevin Ray, ABC 15 sports anchor Craig Fouhy and sports radio personality Mike Jack Bauer.

It will simulcast on Translators K256CY 99.1 FM and K257CD 99.3 FM, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.

The new station joins a crowded Sports field which includes KTAR 620 AM ESPN as well as Fox Sports KGME 910-AM and NBC Sports KDUS 1060 AM.

The Fanatic includes a morning drive show with Ray and Bauer — who moves over from KGME, a mid-morning show with Fouhey and a lunchtime show with CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome.

Mike ‘Roc’ Muraco, Dan Manucci and Shawn Crespin also have an afternoon drive slot, arriving fromn crosstown KDUS.

Muraco helped Cohen develop the new sports radio outlet. He also serves a vice president of sales for CRC.

“The Fanatic has been several years in the making. We are excited to bring an outstanding lineup of sports programming to Arizona radio listeners,” said CRC President Ron Cohen. “Business and sports tend to interest a similar audience,” Cohen said. “Having both radio formats provides advertisers with a unique and cost efficient method of reaching males 35-plus.”
