WCKG 1530 AM, which was purchased by DuPage Radio, LLC this past November, has placed the station up for sale..sorta, according to Chicagoland Radio&Media.
The daytime-only (760 watts) station is not officially for sale and is not motivated to sell anytime soon. The station is in the process of moving to new and improved studios and recently hired many new staffers.
Doyle Hadden of the Celebration, FL-based radio/TV brokerage firm Hadden & Associates reached out to WCKG-AM's ownership and asked if they would be interested in selling. The answer was "no," but like all smart businesses, would listen to offers.
Hadden asked if he could have three months to present offers from qualified buyers. That was agreed to on the expressed condition that the WCKG call letters not be publicized as being for sale, since they were not actively looking to sell.
CRM reports, Hadden immediately did just the opposite, sending out mailers falsely saying WCKG was "motivated" to sell, much to the anger of DuPage Radio, LLC.
Hadden claims the asking price is $1.45 million for WCKG-AM.
