Radio veteran Cary L. Pahigan has been named as new president
and general manager of Hearst stations WBAL 1090 AM and WIYY 97.9 FM in
Baltimore.
Pahigian succeeds Edward C. Kiernan as president and general
manager of WBAL and 98 Rock. Kiernan announced his intentions to retire in
April and his last day on the job was Friday.
Kiernan was top gun for 23 years
overseeing the two Hearst radio stations.
Pahigian joins Hearst from Saga Communications, where he led
an eight-station radio group in Maine, including WMGX-FM, WGAN-AM and WPOR-FM.
He has worked at Boch Broadcasting in Cape Cod, Mass.; Sconnix Broadcasting in
Vienna, Va.; WBZ-AM in Boston and WIP in Philadelphia.
N/T WBAL owns the radio rights to the Orioles, Ravens and
Navy football. 98 Rock also broadcasts Ravens games.
