Emmis Communications Corporation Monday announced that Bob Richards has been named Operations Manager of the Emmis-Indianapolis radio station cluster, which includes WIBC 93.1 FM, WYXB 105.9 FM, WLHK 97.1 FM and Sports WFNI 1070 AM.
“Recognized as one of the leading programmers in the country, Bob’s track record of success in the Indianapolis’ market is legendary,” said Charlie Morgan, Vice President/Market Manager for the stations. “His product vision combined with his vast experience in the Indianapolis market makes him a perfect complement to the talented programming team at Emmis Indy."
Richards has more than 20 years of radio experience in Indiana radio, beginning his career in New Castle at WMDH AM/FM as air talent/PD/Ops Manager (1/1988-7/1996) and spending 14 years in Indianapolis at WFMS-FM (95.5) as air talent/PD/Ops Manager (7/1995-3/2009). Richards also owns Pinehurst Productions, a full service video production company.
Richards was widely recognized for his outstanding work during his tenure at WFMS, as demonstrated by the station winning three Marconi Awards from the NAB; six Country Music Association Large Market Station of the Year Awards; and Richards being named to Radio Ink’s Top 10 Country Program Directors list four times.
Richards, who begins his new position on October 1, replaces David Edgar, who left Emmis-Indianapolis to accept another position.
Concurrently, WLHK Music Director and midday talent Fritz Moser is named Program Director.
