Consumers Say They Have Too Many Streaming Services

It’s no secret that consumers are subscribing to more and more streaming services as options continue to increase. Recently, the average number of SVOD platforms per household became 4-5, so where will it end?

Cordcutters News reports a recent study by Interpret found that more than 20% of viewers feel they have too many streaming service subscriptions. They’re also getting a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of options offered these days. What’s more, consumers are frustrated with how complicated it’s becoming to access their favorite content – it seems like every popular show requires a subscription to a different service in order to stream it.

The study found that consumers expect bundle offerings to give them greater value for their dollar, and rightly so. Another expectation that comes with bundles is less hassle managing multiple accounts, plus the ability to easily discover new content.

Streaming services are listening to consumers and offering bundled subscription prices in hopes to attract and retain more customers. Disney offers a bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for $13 month, a savings of more than $10 compared to subscribing to them individually.
