President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Olivia Trusty, a staffer for Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS), to fill the fifth spot on the FCC.

Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel plans to step down on Monday, leaving the FCC with a 2-2 split between Democrats and Republicans until the Senate confirms Trusty.
Trusty is currently the policy director on the Senate Commerce Committee and she previously worked as an aide to U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio). She also served on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce’s Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection. Earlier in her career, Trusty worked as a consultant for Verizon and as a policy representative at Qwest.
She holds a master’s degree in American government from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
