DC Radio: Cumulus Stations To Host Blood Drive

Cumulus Media-Washington, DC, announces that in the wake of the mass shootings in Las Vegas, NV, radio stations WRQX/mix107.3, WMAL/105.9FM/AM630, and Inova Blood Donor Services will host a Vegas Victims’ Blood Drive next Wednesday, October 11, from 2pm-8pm at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Dr, McLean, VA 22102.

The blood drive is open to the public and appointments can be made online at: mix1073.com/BloodDrive or at: wmal.com/BloodDrive. Alternatively, donors can call 1-866-BLOODSAVES (1-866-256-6372) for an appointment and reference sponsor code 8297.

“In the aftermath of tragic events, we are always asked how people can help,” said Terri Craddock, Director, Inova Blood Donor Services. “The answer is: donate blood. There is no substitute for human blood, so the only way we can help is by ensuring that our blood inventory is stocked. We not only need blood immediately following events such as this, but we encourage donors to make a commitment to donate blood regularly – every two months, if they are eligible.”

Rob Roberts, mix107.3 Program Director, said: “Distance doesn’t lessen the impact of what happened in Las Vegas. This is our chance to help someone and it costs nothing but a little time. We’re proud to do our part.”

Bill Hess, WMAL Program Director, added: “The injured – including some from our area – face a lengthy recovery, and this is one thing we can come together and do to help in our own individual way. We invite our friends and listeners to roll up their sleeves and join us Wednesday in this effort.”
