NYC Radio: Mark Teixeira Joins Michael Kay Show Thursdays

Recently retired New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira will join The Michael Kay Show on 98.7 ESPN every Thursday, beginning March 30.

Each week at 5 p.m. throughout the baseball season, Teixeira will provide opinion and analysis. Last month, ESPN announced the retired slugger is joining the network as a Major League Baseball analyst.

The Michael Kay Show airs weekdays on ESPN 98.7FM from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. ET and is hosted by Michael Kay, Don La Greca and Peter Rosenberg.

“We are excited to add Mark to our broadcast team at 98.7 ESPN,” said Ryan Hurley, 98.7 ESPN program director.”  “New York sports fans can look forward to his unique insight, expertise, and some laughs when he joins Michael, Don and Peter on the show.”

Teixeira, 36, retired in 2016 after playing 14 seasons in the majors with four different teams, most recently with the New York Yankees. A five-time Gold Glove winner at first base, the switch-hitting Teixeira batted .268 for his career and hit 409 homers while driving in 1,298 runs.

Teixeira's best season came in 2009, his first year with the Yankees, when he hit .292 with 39 homers and 122 RBIs and finished second in American League MVP voting. Teixeira helped lead the Yankees return to glory winning the 2009 World Series, the franchise’s first since the 1996-2000 dynasty.
