San Diego Radio: KFMB-AM Warrior Radiothon Raises $429K+

The annual Warrior Foundation/Freedom Station Radiothon took place Tuesdau on N/T KFMB 760 AM.

The live, twelve-hour on-air event was once again dedicated to raising money to help injured warriors, many of whom are going through rehab in San Diego.  Through the generosity and kind spirit of our community, this year's Radiothon raised $429,175 to help send those military heroes home for the holidays.

In addition to sending our warriors home for the holidays, The Warrior Foundation/Freedom Station helps transition our military men and women back to civilian life.

One of those warriors is Ray Seismore, who told AM760’s Armstrong & Getty, “they actually helped me a lot more than I ever helped them.”  Seismore served as an Army warrior in Iraq, returning home five years ago.

Suffering from PTSD, he started working with the staff at the Warrior Foundation/Freedom Station, who helped him with his transition.  For Seismore, that involved going back to college--which he says couldn’t have been done without the support of the Warrior Foundation/Freedom Station.

Similar stories were shared throughout the day, with AM760’s Armstrong & Getty, Mike Slater, Lynda Martin, Brett Winterble and CBS News 8’s Carlo Cecchetto making the appeal for donations.

AM760 KFMB and the KFMB stations have held the Warrior Foundation/Freedom Station Radiothon since 2004...and have raised nearly $14 million to help seriously injured military personnel.
