The children have also requested that Norway deny Jean’s request to bury the disc jockey’s body in Oslo. Government officials told NBC News that they have decided to defer the decision until the Santa Monica police investigation of Jean Kasem on elder abuse allegations is completed. Those allegations stem from Jean Kasem’s removal of her husband from a healthcare facility in May.
Jean Kasem, Casey’s wife of nearly 34 years, asked the Norwegian government on Aug. 7 to allow the burial, claiming that she would be moving to Norway soon. She also said in a letter that her husband "always said that Norway symbolizes peace and looks like heaven and I would like to respectfully fulfill his wishes." His children from his first marriage maintain he always wanted to be buried in Los Angeles.

Casey Kasem died in a Gig Harbor, Washington, hospital on June 15 after battling Lewy Body dementia. Jean Kasem first moved his remains to Montreal, Canada. Norwegian officials said in court papers that Kasem's body has not been embalmed as the legal battle has dragged on.
