Indy Radio Rallies Hundreds To End Violence

Public officials, faith leaders and Indianapolis radio stations united Saturday against the recent spike of violence.

The "Indy United on the Circle" event was held at Monument Circle in an unprecedented effort to send a message to the community that the violence must stop.

Mayor Greg Ballard, Congressman Andre Carson, community leaders and public safety officials said the event was a call for peace to support the city's law enforcement officers. The Indianapolis Power and Light company building at Monument Circle displayed blue lights Saturday in solidarity.

The event followed an especially violent week in Indianapolis that claimed the life of Metro Police Officer Perry Renn .

All Indianapolis radio stations including Emmis, Entercom, Clear Channel, Cumulus and Radio One affiliates, WTTS and WEDJ were listed as the event's hosts.
