Seeger, who performed with a banjo, is also credited with popularizing "We Shall Overcome," which became the anthem of the civil rights movement. Known for his activism as well as his music, Seeger championed a wide range of causes, including civil rights, opposition to nuclear power and the death penalty, the cleanup of the Hudson River, and even the Occupy Wall Street movement.
