The appointment is effective March 3, 2014.
Karter is returning to the Chicago radio market after a four-year tenure at R&B-formatted KMEL 106.1 FM in San Francisco, where he most recently served as assistant program director and a midday personality on the station.

Karter replaces Kris Kelley, who was forced out in December after 15 years with the company. Kelley’s other position as program director of pop contemporary-hit radio WKSC 103.5 FM has been taken over by Tommy Austin, vVP/programming for Clear Channel Chicago.
