He was 60.
Hofmann served as news director and had been part of the “AM
Springfield” program on WFMB-AM (Sports Radio 1450) along with Sam Madonia and
Paul Pachlhofer since 1998.
According to s-jr.com, Hofmann began his broadcasting career
in Cape Girardeau , Mo. ,
and then worked in the Belleville area before
moving to Springfield .
His first job in Springfield was at 1450 WCVS as
a disc jockey in 1981, and the St.
Louis native worked at WCVS until 1990. He left to
work for United Cerebral Palsy Land of Lincoln as development director.
Hofmann returned to Sports Radio 1450 in 1998, replacing
John Hareth as news director and becoming Madonia’s partner on AM Springfield.
He took a leave of absence in December to tend to his medical needs.
