NBC was not a fun place for Ann Curry to be in the time
before her exit from the Today show in June of 2012.
A new book by
Brian Stetler entitled Top of the Morning:
Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV exposes the humiliation that Ann
suffered at the hands of her co-workers in her final months as anchor.
According to an excerpt published in the
New York Times magazine, one employee told Stetler about a day when Ann wore a bright yellow
dress which prompted the control room staff to post a picture of her to hold a
"Who Wore It Best?" comparison with Big Bird. Even the show's
executive producer Jim Bell reportedly got in on the jokes by commissioning a
blooper reel of Ann's worst on-air mistakes.

The author also claims that Curry has told her friends that
her final months at Today were a form of professional torture.
