Radio One's Sports WFNZ 92.7 FM is not airing “Wes & Walker” Monday through Friday, 12pm – 3pm.
“Wes & Walker” is the combination of Charlotteans Wes Bryant and Walker Mehl. Wes comes to WFNZ with an extensive media background in the world of sports. He is a host, producer, editor and voice-over artist for the ACC Digital Network in Charlotte. Wes has also hosted ACC Digital Network’s “Kickoff Live”, a college football pregame show and “Wes Got Range”, a lifestyle show joining food and local area athletes together. Most recently he was the 2021-2022 season pre and post game host for the Charlotte Hornets broadcasts on Bally Sports South. This former offensive lineman and three-year letterman for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and High School All-American football player at Vance High School in Charlotte is anxious to bring his voice to the radio airwaves in his hometown.
Walker started his broadcasting career in Charlotte, one year after graduating from UNC Charlotte in 2015 where he played basketball for the 49ers. In 2018 he began hosting the “Locked On Hornets” podcast where his passion for the Hornets and the other local sports teams became apparent. Prior to becoming a full-time host, he worked with WFNZ as a guest host for numerous shows. Growing up in and around the Queen City, and specifically in Claremont, Walker is a life-long fan and observer of the Charlotte Panthers, Charlotte Hornets and the University of North Carolina.
WFNZ Program Director Jeff Rickard stated, “I’m excited to hear from two talented young men who are not only entertaining and engaging, but true native sons of the Queen City. I’m looking forward to hearing their hometown takes on all things Charlotte sports. I can’t wait for our listeners to learn more about them and enjoy the upcoming ride.”
“Wes & Walker” isn’t the only move coming from Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ. Charlotte should get ready for a newly tweaked line up starting with local favorites Mac & Bone in the mornings, 6am – 10am. Jeff Rickard, Program Director and sports host with two decades of experience on both television and national network radio, will take the reins from 10am – 12pm with “Charlotte Sports Today” followed by “Wes & Walker” from noon – 3pm. Kyle Bailey will take listeners home with all the action from the day 3pm – 6pm.
