Jodi Becker |
Tom Langmyer, vice president and general manager of Milwaukee radio operations for WTMJ parent E.W. Scripps Co., told employees in an email Wednesday that Becker is leaving "to spend more time with her family and to do some other things she's wanted to do." Becker, a Menomonee Falls native who grew up in Germantown, has two young children.
Langmyer added, "Jodi has won countless awards -- but perhaps her greatest radio accomplishments have included her touching stories of Wisconsin's World War II veterans traveling on the Honor Flight, her breast cancer coverage -- and most recently, her tremendous work to raise money to build an all-accessible playground in Menomonee Falls (Jodi's hometown). Jodi's warmth and big heart will be missed, as well. Please join me in congratulating a great broadcaster -- and more importantly, a great mother, on this new chapter in her life."
According to her bio on the station's website, Becker started her radio career at WAYY-AM/WAXX-FM in Eau Claire. After working at WISN 1130 AM in 2005, she spent nearly five years at Los Angeles' KFI 640 AM before returning to Milwaukee for the job at WTMJ.
