Baltimore Radio: Michael J Moving To Mornings On WPOC

iHeartMedia Baltimore has announced that Michael J will take over as the morning host for 93.1 WPOC starting January 6. 

He will co-host The Michael J Morning Show with Bethany Linderman, who currently co-hosts with Laurie DeYoung.

Laurie DeYoung will conclude her 39-year tenure as WPOC’s morning host this week. Jeff St. Pierre, Linderman’s current co-host, will transition to hosting the afternoon drive show.

Michael J, a Baltimore native, has been hosting afternoons on WPOC for 25 years and will continue his midday show on 98.7 WMZQ in Washington, D.C. His voice is also heard on iHeartMedia country stations nationwide.

Jeff Kapugi, iHeartMedia Region Senior Vice President of Programming, expressed excitement about the new lineup, stating that Michael J and Bethany Linderman have the right talent for the morning show.

Michael J, has spent the past two decades of his radio career with iHeartmedia, based in Baltimore/Washington, DC where he is the ONLY on air talent to host two live daily shows in the neighboring metros. He currently starts his day behind the mic on the midday show with 98.7 WMZQ /Washington, DC, where he’s been a fixture for over eleven years now. Then it on to host 93.1 WPOC/ Baltimore‘s afternoon show and the “Drive at 5”.

A seven time Country Music Association Major Market Air Personality of the Year nominee, Michael J has hosted B’more’s on -air after work party from DAY 1 of this Millenium. On 01/01/2000, Michael popped champagne after returning home for what he hopes is for good, after his radio career landed him for stints in Detroit, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Antonio, Columbus and Tampa Bay. 

In addition to his two daily on-air shows in the DMV, Michael J is heard all across the USA hosting over fifty iHeartCountry stations from 7pm till midnight through the iHeartradio platform and app.
