Lotus Communications Corp. is set to acquire KFBG-FM (100.7 Big FM) in San Diego from Local Media San Diego (LMSD). An application for the transfer has been filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Adult Hits outlet at 100.7 MHz. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Local Media San Diego, led by Gregg Wolfson and Norm McKee, has been a significant player in the local media landscape, owning four stations in the area. The decision to sell KFBG-FM is part of a strategic realignment of LMSD's assets.
On the buying end, Lotus Communications Corp., led by Howard Kalmenson and Jim Kalmenson, is expanding its footprint in the U.S. With 46 stations across Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, and Washington, the addition of KFBG-FM will bolster its presence in Southern California. KFBG-FM is known for its 26 kW signal strength and a height above average terrain (HAAT) of 686 feet, providing a city-grade signal as far north as Oceanside and south to Chula Vista.
