Racine Radio: Magnum Launches Country Q92.1 FM

Magnum Communications has announced the debut of the South Milwaukee-Racine market's newest radio station.

WEZY 92.1 FM/The All-New Q92.1 “Continuous Country” offers Country music fans a new choice on FM, on-line at Q92Country.com or on mobile devices by downloading the free TuneIn app.

The station had been LiteAC.

The station’s new owner, Dave Magnum, stated, “A key reason people choose to live in South-East Wisconsin is all of the great choices for entertainment.  I’ve been bringing my two sons to see, hear and taste it since they were young lads, and now as UW-Madison students, they gravitate to it. There are just so many options.  Having just one Country radio choice in South Milwaukee – Racine went against that grain.  Research showed that Country fans would like a new choice and now they’ve got it with Q92.1.”

Magnum said 92.1 WEZY-FM, licensed to Racine, will change call letters in the coming days to WMKQ-FM.

The station was off the air Sunday afternoon and Monday night for installation of a new antenna and audio processing system.  Listeners can also connect with The All New Q92.1 at facebook.com/Q92Country and on Twitter @Q92Country.

Magnum also recently acquired Country station 92.5 WBWI-FM licensed to West Bend which serves the North Milwaukee region, as well as WRJN-AM Racine and WBKV-AM West Bend.  The company now operates sixteen radio stations and three TV stations all in Wisconsin.

  1. I woke up to country music this morning instead of lite rock 92.1. I heard nothing regarding an upcoming format change. Too bad - I'm not a country music fan, and 92.1 was the only "family friendly" music and DJ/Host I'd found that I could listen to with my 4 year old in the room.
