Nebraska Radio: NRRA To Add KAMI To Its Portfolio

The Nebraska Rural Radio Association announced Monday that it is qcuiring KAMI 1580 AM radio in Cozad from the Bott Radio Network of Overland Park, Kan.

The Nebraska Rural Radio Association consists of KRVN-AM/FM in Lexington,  KNEB-AM/FM in Scottsbluff, KTIC-AM/FM in West Point, with affiliated stations in Nebraska City and Chadron.

KRVN Operations Manager Adam Smith said KAMI programming will change as of Dec. 1, “as we give the community Christmas Music to enjoy during the holiday season. Then on Dec. 29, KAMI will go to an exciting Classic Country format.”

Religious that previously was broadcast on KAMI-AM can be heard on KCVN 104.5 FM, which covers the KAMI listening area and beyond, KRVN officials said.

"We're very pleased to add KAMI-AM to our family of stations," said NRRA General Manager Craig Larson. "We admire and respect the work of Bott Broadcasting throughout the Midwest. We have worked with them on other projects.  We're glad we could come to terms regarding KAMI."

“KAMI 1580 AM will give us an opportunity to super-serve the Cozad and surrounding communities with information, sports and entertainment,” KRVN Station Manager Tim Marshall said.

The sale is subject to final approval by the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C.

The NRRA is owned by more than 4,000 Nebraska farmers and ranchers. Anchor station KRVN is one of two radio stations in Nebraska with 50,000 watts of power. The other is KFAB in Omaha.
