Podcast Movement and Sounds Profitable Announce Merger


Sounds Profitable, a leading podcasting trade association, has merged with Podcast Movement, the premier platform for podcast creators and industry leaders, in a seven-figure deal announced Monday. The partnership unites two key players to form a powerhouse in podcasting research, events, and thought leadership.

Sounds Profitable will continue as a trade association, focusing on industry research, with partners Bryan Barletta and Tom Webster remaining shareholders. Barletta will take on the role of President of both Podcast Movement and Sounds Profitable. The merger enhances Podcast Movement’s event expertise and expands its presence at major media events like Cannes Lions, SXSW, The Podcast Show London, and Advertising Week.

“This merger brings together two champions of podcasting, amplifying our mission to connect creators, brands, and innovators while delivering unmatched event experiences,” said Barletta.Podcast Movement co-founder Dan Franks will remain President of Event Movement, the production company expanding to support Sounds Profitable’s events and future Podcast Movement gatherings.

“Sounds Profitable’s vision and research create a unique opportunity for Podcast Movement to evolve with the industry,” Franks noted.

Starting September 2026, Podcast Movement’s flagship event will move to New York City, and its Evolutions event will integrate with SXSW for a broader conference experience.
