OR Radio: Marquee TV Plans To Acquire First Radio Stations

Marquee Broadcasting, a family-owned television station group, is expanding into radio by acquiring Bicoastal Media’s five radio stations in Medford, Oregon, creating a TV/radio combo in Southern Oregon.

The deal, announced Monday, involves an undisclosed purchase price and includes a Local Marketing Agreement allowing Marquee to assume programming and administrative duties pending regulatory approval.

The acquired stations are:
  • Oldies “99.3 The Jukebox” KBXG Grants Pass
  • Country “Q100.3” KRWQ Gold Hill
  • Classic Hits “Kool 103.5” KLDZ Medford
  • Conservative Talk 106.3 KMED Eagle Point (with simulcasts on 105.9 K290AF Rogue River and 106.7 K294AS Ashland)
  • AAA “The Valley” 105.5 K288CP Ashland (also on KMED-HD2)
  • Rhythmic AC “107.5 The Beat” KIFS Ashland
Marquee already owns two television stations in the Medford-Ashland DMA: “Fox 26” KMVU and “My 48” KFBI-LD, offering programming from FOX, MeTV, Telemundo, and MyNetworkTV.

This acquisition makes Marquee the only media company in the Rogue Valley combining television, radio, and digital platforms, enhancing its market presence.

Marquee’s CEO Patricia Lane expressed excitement about integrating the stations and their employees into the company, while COO Gene Steinberg emphasized the strategic advantage, stating, “Two words describe this agreement: ‘Better Together’—adding the power of the Bicoastal radio stations to our television properties makes us the only triple play media company in the Rogue Valley.”
