Meghan McCain |
Broadcast from Los Angeles, the show airs on more than 100 affiliates from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. pacific (6 p.m.-9 p.m. ET).
McCain, daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), is a Republican but, according to a spokeswoman, considers herself more socially liberal and fiscally conservative. She’s on the GLAAD National Board of Directors, supports same sex marriage and said she smokes marijuana “on occasion” and favors legalizing it. Premiere believes she’ll appeal to millennial listeners.
McCain has also written several books, the latest of which is “America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom,” a retelling of a cross-country road trip she took with left-wing comedian Ian Black in 2011.
While working on her father’s presidential campaign she launched McCain Blogette, a blog that won acclaim. She’s contributed to MSNBC, and hosted a docuseries on the cable network Pivot and cohosted a talk show there entitled, “Take Part Live.”
McCain replaces Joe Pags, a San Antonio talker (and Premiere Network weekend host) originally brought in as a temporary host last August. He had replaced Andy Dean, who left to pursue work on his start-up website, Connect Now.
The new McCain-hosted program is also available on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio mobile app, and from AmericaNowRadio.com.
