Ross joined WBAP in 1994 as Assignments Editor and was soon promoted to Assistant News Director, a position she has held since 1994. She added KLIF Assistant News Director to her duties when WBAP was acquired by Cumulus and merged its operations with KLIF. Ross is also Midday News Anchor for KLIF.
The multi-award winning journalist is a graduate of The University of North Texas, and started her radio career in her hometown of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Prior to joining WBAP, Ross was News Director for KETR Radio on the campus of Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters and teaches future broadcasters at the Las Colinas campus of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting.
Tyler Cox, Operations/Program Manager for WBAP-AM and KLIF-AM said: “Freda has earned the respect of her colleagues and is a long-standing influential leader in the WBAP/KLIF News Department. She was the natural choice for this promotion to News Director.”
