Taylor Swift Camp Reacts to Court Subpoena

Taylor Swift has been subpoenaed as a witness in the ongoing legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, stemming from their work on the 2024 film It Ends With Us.

The subpoena was issued by Baldoni’s legal team, led by attorney Bryan Freedman, on May 9, 2025, prompting a sharp response from Swift’s camp and Lively’s representatives.

Background of the Legal BattleLively’s Claims: In December 2024, Blake Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, followed by a lawsuit, accusing Baldoni, her co-star and director, of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment on the set of It Ends With Us. She also alleged that Baldoni and his team orchestrated a retaliatory smear campaign against her after she raised concerns.
Baldoni’s Countersuit: In January 2025, Baldoni filed a $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and Lively’s publicist Leslie Sloane. He denied the harassment allegations, claiming Lively and Reynolds used their influence to “hijack” the film and damage his reputation.

The federal judge overseeing the case plans to combine both lawsuits into one trial, scheduled for March 2026 in New York.

Swift’s team blasted the subpoena as a publicity stunt. They claim the subpoena “designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait.”
