San Angelo Radio: John Flint Returns To The Airwaves

John Flint
One of San Angelo's familiar radio personalities is back on the airwaves.

After a year serving as general manager of Townsquare Media, John Flint felt something was amiss.

"I sat down and (thought) 'I'm in the wrong lane,'" Flint told the San Angelo Standard-Times.

It turned out the correct lane led him back to the microphone on the morning show on Country KGKL 97.5 FM.

"What I'm doing isn't rocket science," Flint said, "but I love doing it. I love making people smile and laugh. San Angelo drivers should have a fun companion to listen to on their way to work."

Flint is no stranger to San Angelo's airwaves, despite the 10-year gap since he last worked as a local DJ — he spent nine years in sales and doing voiceovers before serving as Townsquare Media's GM.

According to the KGKL website, Flint has 17 years of experience, which includes on-air experience with Foster Communications radio stations: 94.7 KIXY-FM, 101.9 KWFR-FM and 1260 KKSA-AM.

Flint admitted returning to the life of a morning DJ after such a long time was certainly a change of pace.

His day typically begins at 3:30 a.m. so he has enough time to prepare for the four-hour show that begins at 6 a.m.

"People think DJs only work four hours a day. Yeah ... not so much."
