Twin Cities Radio: WCCO, Timberwolves Extend Broadcast Deal

The Minnesota Timberwolves are staying right where they’ve been for the last few years on the radio dial: NewsRadio WCCO 830 AM.

The team announced a multi-year deal with WCCO-AM that will kick off with the upcoming 2015-2016 season, which begins with the Wolves’ game in Los Angeles against the Lakers on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The Timberwolves have made WCCO their radio home since the start of the 2011-2012 season.

“We truly value our partnership with the Wolves and are excited to continue our relationship,” Mick Anselmo, WCCO Radio senior vice president and market manager, said Wednesday. “This is an NBA franchise on the upswing, and a perfect marriage with 830 WCCO-AM and the unparalleled signal coverage it provides to the Upper Midwest.”

Alan Horton will return for his ninth season as the Wolves’ play-by-play announcer, and will be joined by John Focke for the pre- and post-game shows.
