NBCUniversal Media faces liability for a $500,000 sexual harassment judgment against Atlanta actor-comedian Faizon Love after ignoring a garnishment attempt by Love’s former assistant, Hevekiah Walker.
Now, NBCU is urging the Georgia Supreme Court to declare part of the state’s garnishment law unconstitutional, arguing it unfairly holds NBCU responsible for Love’s debt despite its lack of involvement in the harassment lawsuit.
Yesterday, NBCU’s attorneys admitted the company’s failure to respond to Walker’s April 2024 garnishment case in Gwinnett County was inexcusable. However, they argued that Georgia’s law, which transferred liability from Love to NBCU, is unreasonable and should be struck down.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports court records show NBCU ignored Walker’s garnishment efforts for seven months, only engaging after a default judgment made it liable for the full amount.

The case stems from Walker’s 2022 lawsuit against Love and his company, Assembly Robot Inc., alleging sexual harassment during her five-month tenure as Love’s personal assistant in Gwinnett County. Neither Love nor his company responded, leading to a default judgment in 2023, awarding Walker $500,000 plus $43,000 in interest and costs.
When Walker targeted NBCU to collect, the company, served through its Lawrenceville agent, failed to respond, resulting in a June 2024 default judgment holding NBCU liable for the entire amount.
Some Georgia Supreme Court justices, including recently appointed Justice Benjamin Land, expressed skepticism about NBCU’s request, noting the company’s earlier missed opportunities to avoid liability. Land remarked that NBCU’s predicament could have been avoided with a timely response.
