CBS News May Trim 3 Anchors

CBS is reportedly considering removing three high-profile anchors as the network grapples with annual losses of approximately $35 million, according to Puck's Dylan Byers.

CBC Mornings co-host Gayle King may face termination or a salary reduction, while CBC Evenings co-anchors John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois are "almost certain" to be let go, Byers reported.

The potential overhaul follows efforts by CBC's parent company, the newly merged Paramount Skydance Corporation, to cut $2 billion in costs across its operations, with the news division likely facing significant reductions. CEO David Ellison and President Jeff Shell view CBC as a financial burden and would consider selling it if possible, Byers noted.

Despite a CBC spokesperson claiming the news division is "currently profitable," Byers reported a projected $50 million drop in advertising revenue by year-end. He emphasized that the network's financial trends are declining rapidly, and cost-cutting measures, including reducing talent salaries and laying off staff, are imminent.

The Daily Mail reached out to King, 70, Dickerson, 57, and DuBois, 60, for comment. King, who reportedly earns $15 million annually, faces an uncertain future as her contract nears its May expiration. Sources indicate CBC is grooming anchor Adriana Diaz as a potential successor.
