Dan Bernstein, a prominent Chicago sports radio personality, launched his new daily podcast, Dan Bernstein Unfiltered, on MOnday, under the 312 Sports banner, part of the Gamut Podcast Network.
The podcast, co-hosted with longtime producer Matt Abbatacola, marks Bernstein’s return to the airwaves after his firing from 670 The Score in March 2025. It is available on major platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and 312sports.com, focusing on Chicago sports—Bears, Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, and Blackhawks—with Bernstein’s signature candid commentary.
In the debut episode, Bernstein addressed his dismissal from The Score, which stemmed from a social media altercation where he threatened to dox a user’s children over a fishing dispute. He took full responsibility, stating, “We got here primarily because I went psycho on a Twitter troll… it’s my fault because of my shortcomings.”
He described the incident as the culmination of a “slow-rolling mental health crisis,” exacerbated by a “chemical addiction” to the “dopamine outrage cycle” from his Twitter use. Bernstein revealed he sought intensive psychotherapy post-firing, linking the outburst to prior anxiety issues and social media’s impact on his mental health. He emphasized learning about his brain chemistry and setting boundaries, noting he now limits X usage to marketing purposes to protect his mental well-being.
Bernstein’s transparency about his mental health struggles and social media addiction sets a vulnerable tone for the podcast, resonating with listeners facing similar challenges.
The show promises daily episodes with sharp, unfiltered takes on sports, starting with Bears camp coverage, and is part of 312 Sports’ broader initiative, including Forward Progress: A Chicago Bears Podcast, launching August 26, 2025. His approach—owning his mistakes while prioritizing mental health—stands out as a rare and relatable response to a controversial exit in the radio industry.
